"INCIDENT_REPORT": "On October 13, 2026, at approximately 3:30 PM, Manatee County Utilities Department (MCUD) staff were notified of a sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) located at the intersection of 60th Avenue West and 26th Street West in Bradenton. The SSO occurred when a contractor, Underground Utility Services, bored into a 24-inch force main while installing electrical conduit. The discharge at the force main break stopped around 7:45 PM on October 13, 2026, when an upstream lift station was taken out of service and tankers were used to maintain the water level in the collection system, but discharges occurred in other areas of the collection system due to the tankers not being able to keep up with the raw wastewater flow causing surcharged areas in the collection system. Due to these surcharged areas, a clean out at 1520 63rd Avenue East (27.429, -82.546), manhole MH28421 at 1620 63rd Avenue East (27.429, -82.545), and manhole MH23210 at 204 52nd Avenue Terrace East (27.448, -82.562) in Bradenton also had discharges. MCUD staff and a contractor repaired the main and returned it into service, stopping all discharges by 7:30 PM on October 15, 2026. The initial total discharge volume is estimated to be greater than 300,000 gallons with some of the wastewater entering storm water drains that convey water to surface waters. A final volume will be provided once all field data can be analyzed, along with a final recovery volume. Wastewater Compliance staff is collecting fecal coliform, enterococcus, and E. coli samples from the potentially affected surface waters of the state. As a precautionary measure, MCUD staff have placed warning signs, hung door knockers, and notified offices of communities adjacent to potentially affected waters.",
