  "INCIDENT_NAME": "LS-68 - 1500 S Cypress Road",
  "INCIDENT_REPORT": "On October 18, 2026, the City of Pompano Beach Utilities Department responded to a sanitary sewer overflow originating from a gravity sewer manhole along E. McNab Road near the 7-Eleven at 1500 S. Cypress Road. The event was dispatched at approximately 9:50 a.m.; Utilities personnel arrived at approximately 11:00 a.m. The overflow was stopped at approximately 2:50 p.m. The estimated total overflow was 7,200 gallons, with approximately 40 gallons recovered. Early morning heavy rainfall and additional wastewater flows from Lift Station No. 68 are believed to have contributed to hydraulic overloading of the affected gravity sewer system. Overflowing wastewater reached a storm drain inlet connected to a drainage system leading toward Cypress Creek Canal. The inlet had filter fabric in place as part of nearby bridge construction. While this fabric may retain some solids, it is not established that it prevented wastewater from entering the drainage system. The volume, if any, reaching Cypress Creek Canal has not been determined. The 7,160-gallon unrecovered estimate should not be interpreted as an estimate of discharge to the canal. Utilities personnel isolated Lift Station No. 68, after which the manhole overflow stopped. Wastewater flow was redirected east toward Lift Station No. 44 to relieve hydraulic loading on the affected gravity system. This temporary configuration is expected to remain while staff evaluate the gravity sewer system and identify other potential contributing conditions. Appropriate regulatory agencies have been notified. Follow-up environmental samples have been collected to evaluate potential water quality impacts. Analytical results and investigation findings will be reviewed to determine whether further monitoring, corrective measures, or regulatory follow-up are warranted. The active overflow has been stopped, and operational controls are in place. The Utilities Department continues to investigate the cause and assess potential environmental impacts. Additional information will be provided as sampling results and investigative findings become available.",
