This failure caused 105 gallons of untreated wastewater to be released from the lift station's manhole to the nearby storm drain, which feeds into the nearby Massalina Bayou, and to the bayou itself. The spill ceased at 9:30 a.m. of the same day. The nearby street was washed down, and lime was applied to the affected areas.
