"INCIDENT_REPORT": "At approximately 8:10 AM on October 30, 2026, a sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) occurred at the Southwest Water Reclamation Facility (SWWRF- FDEP permit #FLA012619) located at 5101 65th Street West in Bradenton. The SSO occurred when the headworks drain station pump failed due to an obstruction causing an estimated 1,080 gallons of raw wastewater to spill onto the asphalt adjacent. This obstruction occurred while the drain station was undergoing pump replacement. The spill stopped at approximately 8:12 AM when Manatee County Utilities Department (MCUD) staff stopped the wastewater flow to the drain station and installed a temporary pumping system. MCUD staff applied mulch over the affected asphalt to soak up the standing wastewater and will properly dispose of the mulch, for a total of approximately 970 gallons of wastewater recovered. No storm water drains or surface waters of any kind were affected by the spill. To prevent spills like this in the future, additional pumps will be procured and stocked onsite to aid in faster pump replacement.",
