"INCIDENT_REPORT": "On October 31, 2026, at approximately 8:30 PM, Manatee County Utilities Department (MCUD) staff were notified of a sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) located near 11525 Little River Way in Parrish. The SSO occurred when a 6\" force main failed allowing an estimated 500 gallons of raw wastewater to discharge onto the ground. This wastewater entered into a stormwater drain that conveys to a stormwater retention pond that is not considered a surface water of the state. MCUD staff were able to stop the discharge at 9:45 PM when they successfully maintained levels in the collections system by using a vacuum truck to suck out wastewater from the pipe during the repair process. By November 1, 2026 at around 1:00 AM, a clamp was successfully installed and the force main was returned to service. MCUD staff transferred approximately 6,000 gallons of wastewater from the system to the wastewater plant for treatment. MCUD staff then rinsed down the affected hard surfaces with potable water, applied bleach and used a vacuum truck to recover an estimated 200 gallons of rinsewater/wastewater mix. Wastewater Compliance staff will perform an investigation and will be collecting fecal coliform samples to help evaluate the impact on the retention pond.",
