"INCIDENT_NAME": "Westport Wastewater chlorinated effluent overflow",
"INCIDENT_REPORT": "Due to heavy rainfall and widespread flooding throughout St. Lucie County, the Utility Systems Department's wastewater collection system became hydraulically overloaded, resulting in several sanitary sewer overflows. The Glades and Westport Wastewater Treatment Plants received influent flows exceeded the rated capacity of certain systems. At the Westport Wastewater Treatment Plant, chlorinated effluent overflowed from effluent basins into adjacent retention areas. Due to the severity of the flooding, several lift stations were submerged for varying periods until floodwaters receded. As rainfall diminished and water levels decreased, the collection system gradually returned to normal operating conditions. Utility Systems Department staff continue to assess the collection system and associated facilities as additional areas become accessible and operating conditions are fully evaluated.",
