"INCIDENT_REPORT": "Manatee County Utilities staff were notified around 7:19 AM on 9/2/2026 of a potential sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) located near 1119 59th Street Northwest and 5911 Riverview Boulevard in Bradenton. Manatee County Utilities Department staff responded and discovered that manholes MH5001 and MH4249 were actively overflowing. Manatee County staff further discovered a grease/rag mat had interfered with float levels at lift station LS 70/RTU 230 resulting in approximately 1,620 gallons of raw wastewater spilling from the two manholes onto the ground surface. Some of the raw wastewater entered stormwater drains proximate to the manholes that eventuate into surface waters of the state. Manatee County Utilities staff responded by remotely activating the lift station pumps, stopping the spill at 7:46 AM. Manatee County Utilities Department Staff removed the mat and returned the lift station to normal service. No wastewater was recovered from this spill. Since raw wastewater entered nearby stormwater drains, Manatee County Staff will post warning signs as a precautionary measure. Additionally, staff will perform an investigation and collect fecal coliform and enterococcus samples from the potentially affected surface waters. As a preventative measure, a bubbler system will be installed in the lift station to prevent this type of spill occurrence in the future. Spill location coordinates (27.50947 x -82.61973, 27.51067 x -82.61957).",
