"INCIDENT_REPORT": "On October 4th, 2026, at approximately 8:50 PM, Manatee County Utilities Department (MCUD) staff were notified of a sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) located near 12310, 12358, 12374, 12424, 12434, 12506, 12550 Amber Creek Circle and 12405 44th Avenue East in Lakewood Ranch. The SSO occurred when the contractor, TLC Diversified, failed to put the bypass pump on the correct setting at the Pope Road Master Lift Station (MLS) (RTU 683) located at 12405 44th Avenue East in Lakewood Ranch while performing rehabilitation activities to the lift station. An estimated 1,500 gallons of raw wastewater discharged from the manholes (MH25363, MH40101, MH40102, MH40103, MH40104, MH40105, MH40106 and MH40107 onto the road surface, with some of the wastewater entering proximate storm water drains along Amber Creek Circle that convey to a storm retention pond that is not a water of the state. TLC Diversified were able to stop the discharge on October 4th, 2026 at approximately 9:42 PM when they placed the bypass pump onto the correct setting. TLC Diversified had a company (SOS Septic) use a tanker truck to wash down the affected hard surfaces and were able to recover a total of 10 gallons of standing wastewater. Wastewater Compliance staff are performing an investigation and collecting fecal coliform samples to help evaluate the impact on the retention pond.
