"incident_comment": "The estimated Volume of Discharge that we posted on the Overflow Report was estimated using the rate of withdrawal at the pump and haul truck. The truck had a 2,000 gallon tank on it. The truck hauled three 1,800 gallon tank loads while the repairs were being made. This established a rate of discharge from the leak. We applied that rate to the reported estimate for the time the leak occurred. The 3 x 1,800 = 5,400 gallons is not actually included as part of the estimated Volume of Discharge but was applied as a rate of overflow.\n\nFactors that minimized volume of Discharge: \n\nLeaked sewage only pathway to leave the manhole was through the lifting pick holes in the manhole cast iron lid. This would have slowed the discharge rate.\n\nThere is a relatively deep ravine that parallels Coles Point Road near the end of Bronson Cove. The ravine would have \"caught\" and percolated a portion of the flow and would have slowed the flow getting to Bronson Cove.\n\nWe believe all of these factors combined would result in little or no overflow reaching Bronson Cove and the Lower Machodoc Creek. However, we reported the estimated potential based on the rate of discharge being pumped and hauled.",
