The overflow occurred from a manhole near Lee Street in St. Paul, VA. The overflow was caused by a blockage of an excessive accumulation of wet wipes that had been flushed into the sanitary sewer system. Approximately 15,000 gallons was lost. The overflow did not enter state waters. Town Public Works staff responded to the incident, removed the blockage, and jetted the affected sewer line and manhole. Following these actions, wastewater flows returned to normal. Staff confirmed that the blockage had been cleared and the system was functioning properly. The incident was closed on August 17, 2026.",
