How these charts are counted

We count each discharge once. Where a source publishes notices and confirmed reports, we use confirmed reports for an operator's month when available; otherwise we use notices. We combine revisions and exclude duplicate state reports copied by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Monthly and yearly totals appear separately. Status hours follow this site's rules. Shaded gaps mean missing coverage, not zero discharges.

Duration and rate are field estimates. Impact and Location: The release occurred near the North Palm Waterway at the Earman River intersection, approximately one mile upstream of the Intracoastal Waterway. Discharge entered surface water. Aeration was established at the point of entry and one-quarter mile downstream, and public-warning signage was posted the evening of the incident. Response and Corrective Actions: Field representatives were dispatched immediately on notification and confirmed the break on arrival. The line was isolated within approximately one hour to stop the release. Crews repaired the break and returned the force main to service by 9:30 PM the same day with no additional leaks. Aerators were deployed and warning signage posted the evening of the incident. The site was backfilled and secured overnight, and crews resumed disinfection, sanitizing, and restoration the following morning. The failed force main is already in the process of being replaced. Regulatory Notification and Sampling: The State Watch Office was notified at 8:27 AM on July 2, 2026, within 24 hours of the event. SUA attempted to reach FDOH and FDEP by phone, but both offices were closed for the holiday. Following the State Watch Office notification, SUA will send notification emails to FDOH and FDEP along with a proposed sampling plan, and will begin surface water sampling on July 2, 2026.” report · notice · mapended
